While many Android phones today are pre-installed with Google Contacts, there are many Android users like myself that are irritated by the non-customizable option it offers. It is basic in nature and there is no way to customize it in any way. No theme option or whatever.
Most Android phones comes pre-installed with it. For example, Xiaomi smartphones released in most markets (excluding China) are pre-installed with Google Contacts and are set as default for making calls and for saving contacts.
However, Android 10 and above let users change this by installing third-party contacts app like "True Phone", which is what this article is all about. I've been using "True Phone" for a while and I cannot but agree that it is one of the best contact apps for Android that offers full customization.
It can be themed based on user's choice, with various color presets readily available to change every nook and cranny of each of its interface. In addition, users can automatically record calls without having to press any button on the call screen.
Whenever a call is made or answered, the auto call recorder built into the app will become active and each call recording are automatically saved in the phone storage. Other things that can be customized on the app include the Dialpad, caller's photo and avater, and phone labels.
It offers much more than what are written here, so I suggest you give it a try. A trial will convince you. No hiccups and it does not use much RAM. So far, True Phone has run smoothly on most smartphones I've tested it on, like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Nokia.
