Nearly everyone using Android or iPhone install WhatsApp on their phone, not only because it's one of the cheapest ways to send a message but because of its simplicity. Well, I also have WhatsApp installed on my phone, and I do use it a lot to communicate with relatives and friends.
Among the functionalities of WhatsApp is status updates, which lets each user post status about whatever they wish to share with their contacts without having to personally send each contact a message. A tab is dedicated on the app for status, and whenever one of your contacts post a new status, a little dot appear on the tab to notify you.
If you have a lot of contacts and a lot of your friends are on WhatsApp, you will most definitely consider muting some of your friends status in order for you to be focus on what is important. Not all of my friends post something meaningful, so muting them is a better way to keep them checked so that I can focus on the ones that I'm interested in.
Thankfully, each person that I mute has no way of finding out (unless he/she check my phone behind my back). Once muted, the person's status will be separated from the recent updates, and there is no way for the person to find out if you have mute his/her status. It will be beneficial to let you know that all WhatsApp status updates expire within 24-hours.
So what are the benefits in muting some of your friends status update? First, it let you separate the status that are important from the ones that are not important. Secondly, it let you keep an eye on someone special, that is, a mutual friend or mutual friends you can't do without reading or viewing his/her or their status. Thirdly, it gets the status tab cleaned up and well arranged based on your priority.
If you have WhatsApp installed on your phone and you have a lot of friends, I suggest you follow my advice to keep things in check.
