The age of pattern code on Android is gone, but not for me

pattern code android

I looked back into the world of Android since the beginning and I realized that so many things have changed for the better. Security is not the way it used to be and privacy is no more a big concern to many of us.

Unlike in those days, we no longer rely on pattern code to lock and unlock our device. The advent of fingerprint sensor and facial recognition changes many things in this regard.

Technology has moved farther than any man can predict, things have really changed for the better. Who will use pattern code when fingerprint and facial recognition as become the new order of the day?

For one thing, they "seem" to be more secure and they can not be easily hacked. Although, it is still required that we set a pin code before we can enable fingerprint on our Android devices.

Setting the pin code just in case if something happen to the fingerprint sensor there would still be an option to unlock the device is a nice trick. Which just means fingerprint sensors are not mature yet.

Optical or ultrasonic, the fact still remains the same. In its days, pattern codes are secured. You do not need to set a default pin before you can activate it. A lot of Android phones still offer the option to use pattern code till date, though.

It has not been completely replaced by the simpler options of today. If there is one thing that made fingerprint and facial recognition the choice of many, it is that they are fast! You simply tap the fingerprint sensor with your finger and you are in in no time.

Same way for facial recognition, you simply look into the front camera and you are in straight away. Unlike pattern code, they are fast and they are reliable. Although I wouldn't trust them as much as I would trust pattern code.

Mechanical can't simply be compared to automatic. In the first, you have the option to configure things as you want them. In the second, the machine do most of the job for you.

Pattern codes are mechanical, you have the option to set your code and draw your pattern as you want them. You can make it hard to guess and you can make it soft. It depends on your preferences.

Although the world has moved on, pattern codes are here to stay. Without it, some of us will stop using our Android phone.
